Eve J. Barrett was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1970. In 1973, her family moved to the state of Maine where she attended high school and graduated from Westbrook College with an Associates in Science degree in Electronic Office Management.
In 1992, Eve moved to Texas where she enlisted in the United States Army. Tours of duty included Fort Gordon, Georgia; Fort Hood, Texas; Camp Casey, South Korea; Frankfurt, Germany; and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Awards included Soldier of the Quarter, Soldier of the Year, Distinguished Honor Graduate and Iron Sergeant of the Cycle at Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medals, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.
In 1998, Eve completed her five-year enlistment and moved to Nashville, where she attended court reporting school at Tennessee Career College. She graduated in 20 months, breaking the school record for course completion. Upon graduation, she began her career working in the civil court division, as well as reporting various other aspects of litigation.
In 2003, Eve and her husband moved to Dunedin, Florida. After establishing herself with various court reporting firms in the Pinellas and Hillsborough County area, she was fortunate enough to secure an associate position with Rebecca Witt & Associates. This experience stretched her reporting abilities and challenged her to attain the professional status she carries today.
In January of 2007, Eve & Jim formed Barrett Court Reporting. Eve is now able to focus on clients' daily reporting needs and Jim is able to focus on managing the technology and day-to-day administration of the business. Together they have two children, Kylar and Kynsey, and enjoy spending family time together.
Eve is a Registered Professional Reporter, a Florida Professional Reporter, as well as a Certified LiveNote Reporter. She is also a member in good standing with the Florida Court Reporters Association and the National Court Reporters Association.
